MOBLAND – Superb English mobster story with a stellar cast at the top of their game. Pierce Brosnan in his best role ever as the villainous, sadistic head of the family. Helen Mirren as the equally villainous, sadistic and traitorous real head of the family is magnificent. Tom Hardy soars in his role as theContinue reading

MATLOCK – A bit farfetched, but enjoyable nonetheless. I like it. And finally something that accurately depicts older women, both from society’s perspective and our own. Kathy Bates nails it! Cheers!! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.
THE GENTLEMEN – Delightful!! Murder, mayhem and a clandestine marijuana farm are afoot when an old English estate is inherited by the scrumptious Theo James. Written, directed and produced by Guy Ritchie, and loaded with talented actors including Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad, it’s a smart, sexy romp and we’re along for the ride. Oh,Continue reading
THE DIPLOMAT – Smart, sassy and fun! Keri Russell (The Americans) shines along with the diverse cast in this new NetFlix series. A few recognizable faces, but mostly unknown actors, turn in great performances in this fast-paced satire of political and personal angst, and the intersection of the two, with much of the story rootedContinue reading
DEATH AND OTHER DETAILS – Fun murder mystery on board a yacht starring Mandy Patinkin and a host of ethnically diverse characters. The use of cinematography to insert flashback scenes into current scenes allowing the overlap to play simultaneously is my favorite bit. Clever and interesting. Pacing is great, too, as we endeavor to discoverContinue reading
HACKS – Jean Smart is a terrific actress so I tuned in to see what the fuss was about (it’s been awarded Emmys in the past). After two episodes, I can’t get into it. Both characters are too unlikeable and I don’t care about them. Skip it. Cheers! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.
SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE – Quirky, off-beat, dysfunctional characters and relationships which are probably a true depiction of life for many of us. It’s okay, but not very interesting. You might want to skip it. Cheers! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.
DR. DEATH – Docudrama profiling one specific murdering doctor each season. I haven’t watched Season One, but Season Two is horrifying. Kelly said I wouldn’t like it, and she was right! The doctor’s cruelty as he destroys patients’ lives, and gets away with it over and over again, is astounding. Beware. Cheers! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.
THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES – It’s funny, but I don’t like the characters or the premise (false Evangelical family of preachers living the millionaire lifestyle off donations from the flock) so I can’t get into it. Cheers! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.
SHRINKING – Grief stricken therapist Jimmy has a helluva time healing himself, as well as his daughter and patients. Harrison Ford turns in a performance as Jimmy’s senior therapist, Paul. A few funny moments. It’s okay. Kelly liked it. Ed didn’t. Cheers! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.
