HARRY & MEGHAN – About what you’d expect from a documentary about Harry & Meghan. Kelly found it boring. I found it a bit self-serving. I did enjoy learning some history of the Royal family. Harry’s reveal of protocol, growing up within the institution and behind-the-scenes behavior of high-born Royals was also interesting. Beyond that…skip it. Cheers! Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.

THE SANTA CLAUSES – Tim Allen returns in the latest installment of the “The Santa Clause” films. This six episode mini-series on Disney+ continues the saga of saving Christmas and/or Santa (Scott Calvin style). If you’re a fan of the three pictures, you will doubtless enjoy the series. It’s merely more of the same. As Kelly says, it’s not awful….but it’s not good…although it was fun to see a few original actors from the films recreating their roles in the TV show. Cheers! Boyfriends – 0; Girlfriends – 0.

WEDNESDAY – Addams Family mischief and shenanigans wrapped in a mysterious whodunnit. It’s delightful! Jenna Ortega looks and delivers like Johnny Depp. She is superb in the lead role. “Thing” is my scene-stealing favorite! I hated to see the adventure end. Rave reviews from Kelly and Ryan, too. Cheers! Boyfriends – 0; Girlfriends – 1; and a “thing” – 1.

LOVE ACTUALLY – is marvelous “actually.” Released in 2003, this Christmas picture is chock full of British heavy-weights at the top of their game. I discovered it for the first time last year. Since then I’ve learned it’s a cult classic. I understand why. This is not the typical smaltzy holiday film. This movie celebrates love is love is love…sometimes traditional, sometimes unkind, sometimes hard, sometimes surprising…and it is all portrayed honestly with warmth and humor amidst Christmas cheer. A charming gem that completely captured my heart! Merry Christmas! Cheers! Boyfriends – 4; Girlfriends – 1; and a talented young boy, Thomas Sangster, who went on to build a solid resume of quality work including Game of Thrones and Queen’s Gambit.

BULLET TRAIN – A thoroughly enjoyable romp of a ride! This latest Brad Pitt film is hilarious, violent, action-packed and loaded with Japanese dialogue. And of course, there’s Brad…who looks great and delivers spot on deadpan humor! Kelly liked it, too. Unanimous toasts. Cheers! Boyfriends – 1; Girlfriends – 1.

1899 – Slow, dull, boring and weird. A ghost ship is discovered in the middle of the Atlantic. Would have been a better drop for NetFlix at Halloween, but still would have been slow, dull, boring and weird. Skip it. No toasts. Boyfriends/Girlfriends – 0.

THE WHITE LOTUS – Ah, the White Lotus. It’s all the rage at the moment. Everyone seems to love it. Kelly can’t look away, although it took her several episodes to become interested. She suggested I try to make it through at least two episodes before bolting because she knows it’s an acquired taste and she didn’t think I’d acquire it. Perry also advised me to stick with it and I would be rewarded. I admit they are both correct….sort of. I did stick with it, and by episode three, I started to become somewhat interested in the hateful, monstrous, grating characters I had previously despised. I still despised them, but I hung in to discover what made them tick and how story lines would be resolved. Also, I wanted to make it to season two and Theo James. If you aren’t aware, The White Lotus is a 5-star resort hotel, one of a conglomerate in various locations. The first season takes place in Hawaii, the second in Italy. Each season revolves around new staff and patrons at that particular hotel. Each begins with a death or two and we have to wait until the last episode for the great reveal. I liked season two better than season one and not just because of Theo. The story lines are more interesting and feature a couple of well-known actors like F. Murray Abraham and Michael Imperioli. Unfortunately most of the characters are still monstrous and hateful, but I suppose this is the point going forward. The one carry-over guest from season one, Tanya, is sadly one that annoys me the most. Perry finds her funny. I find her nauseating. The series is billed as a comedy, and there are a few funny bits, but most of it is drama. And there are some graphic scenes I can do without. Still, I’m interested to see how season two wraps up. I simply must know who gets murdered and by whom. Gee, I hope it’s not Theo! Cheers! Boyfriends – 1; Girlfriends – 0.

THE WATCHER – Loosely based on a true story (keyword loosely), this NetFlix miniseries tells the tale of a family who bought a house in Westfield, NJ, back in 2014 and promptly began receiving ominous letters from an unknown neighbor. In the series, a reign of terror ensues, disrupting the homeowners’ lives and causing chaos in the community. In reality, the homeowners never moved into the house once they received the letters. About the only thing the two stories have in common is the identity of The Watcher remains a mystery. Apparently the show is all the rage since it dropped last week and is wreaking havoc in the lives of the current homeowners and the owners of the house in Rye, NY, which stood in for the real house during filming. Fans are flocking to both locations in droves. Personally, the show is far-fetched and not all that interesting, but I watched the whole bit in order to discover the culprit posing as The Watcher. As I said, my persistence went unrewarded. Kelly ducked out after one episode exclaiming “People please. No way this is a true story.” She was right. Boyfriends/Girlfriends – zip.
