THE WHITE LOTUS – Ah, the White Lotus. It’s all the rage at the moment. Everyone seems to love it. Kelly can’t look away, although it took her several episodes to become interested. She suggested I try to make it through at least two episodes before bolting because she knows it’s an acquired taste and she didn’t think I’d acquire it. Perry also advised me to stick with it and I would be rewarded. I admit they are both correct….sort of. I did stick with it, and by episode three, I started to become somewhat interested in the hateful, monstrous, grating characters I had previously despised. I still despised them, but I hung in to discover what made them tick and how story lines would be resolved. Also, I wanted to make it to season two and Theo James. If you aren’t aware, The White Lotus is a 5-star resort hotel, one of a conglomerate in various locations. The first season takes place in Hawaii, the second in Italy. Each season revolves around new staff and patrons at that particular hotel. Each begins with a death or two and we have to wait until the last episode for the great reveal. I liked season two better than season one and not just because of Theo. The story lines are more interesting and feature a couple of well-known actors like F. Murray Abraham and Michael Imperioli. Unfortunately most of the characters are still monstrous and hateful, but I suppose this is the point going forward. The one carry-over guest from season one, Tanya, is sadly one that annoys me the most. Perry finds her funny. I find her nauseating. The series is billed as a comedy, and there are a few funny bits, but most of it is drama. And there are some graphic scenes I can do without. Still, I’m interested to see how season two wraps up. I simply must know who gets murdered and by whom. Gee, I hope it’s not Theo! Cheers! Boyfriends – 1; Girlfriends – 0.
