DARK – Aptly named, this Netflix series is produced in German and dubbed in English. It’s a bizarre, sci-fi time travel extravaganza. The same characters exist in all time periods, and they can travel between them. There is a giant apocalypse threatening each world. If your head is spinning, join the club, because that isContinue reading

View Post THE ORDER – This is another one of those comfort viewing shows Kelly and I enjoy watching…especially during a pandemic. In the same category as The Originals and Sabrina, it’s a fun romp through supernatural antics – this time in a college setting focusing on magic and werewolves. Werewolves have never been myContinue reading
THE ORIGINALS – Okay lots of boyfriends and girlfriends on this one. As a matter of fact, pretty much the main reason for watching. This show has all gorgeous actors. If you happen to like supernatural fantasies which include vampires, witches and werewolves, all the better. And the story is quite appropriately set in NewContinue reading
PEAKY BLINDERS – I kept seeing this show listed in the NetFlix menu. It features many criteria I enjoy – historical fiction, British, period piece, some name people – so I began watching. I soon found I could not look away. The first thing that struck me was I kept seeing Jonathan Rhys Meyers inContinue reading
HOLLYWOOD – I can’t decide if I like this show. I want to like it, but some things about it are extremely off-putting. First, I can’t figure out if it is supposed to be historical fiction or not. Many real players from Hollywood’s 50s era are depicted in the story, but the premise is ridiculous.Continue reading
ECHO IN THE CANYON – A documentary spearheaded by Bob Dylan’s son, Jakob. A great slice of musicians’ lives in the Laurel Canyon area of L.A. back in the 60s. Interviews with the original musicians intertwine with excerpts of their songs as well as excerpts of Jakob and his friends performing their songs in tribute.Continue reading
LOCKE & KEY – A Netflix original based on a graphic novel. It’s an engaging supernatural story involving magical keys. I find it different and refreshing. So far I haven’t been able to look away and I’m almost done with the season. There are other shows I need to view but find myself returning toContinue reading
THE KOMINSKY METHOD – Fran and H. laughed their asses off during this series (and we hadn’t even toasted yet). It truly captures the challenges of aging with honesty and humor. Michael Douglas & Alan Arkin are great together. I kept looking at Kathleen Turner as Michael’s ex-wife and thinking “is that Kathleen Turner?” IContinue reading
SABRINA – My daughter, Kelly, loves Sabrina. She especially likes the aunts. I like it too. Fun, campy witchery.
THE MAGICIANS – I happened upon this show on a whim. I discovered a delightful fantasy adventure which immediately engaged me. Based upon the book series by Lev Grossman (who I’d never heard of), it’s sort of a Harry Potter goes to college aimed at a millennial demographic. For me it has everything. Magic, fantasy,Continue reading
